The Baha'i year, in accordance with the Badi' calendar, consists of
nineteen months of nineteen days each, with the addition of certain
intercalary days "Ayyam-i-Ha" (four in an ordinary year and five in a leap year)
between the eighteenth and nineteenth months in order to adjust the
calendar to the solar year. The Bab named the months after certain
attributes of God. The Baha'i New Year, like the ancient Persian New
Year (Naw-Ruz), is fixed on the vernal equinox (March 21), and the
Baha'i era commenced with the Bab's declaration of His Mission to Mulla
Husayn in 1844 which corresponds to 1260 A.H. on the Muslim calendar.
The Baha'i day begins and ends at sunset; consequently Baha'i monthly
Feasts should be adjusted to conform to Baha'i calendar time.

The Fast:
The period of the
Fast is March 2 through March 20. "We have commanded you to pray and
fast from the beginning of maturity (15 years); this is ordained by God,
your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers.... The traveller, the
ailing, those who are with child or giving suck, are not bound by the
fast.... Abstain from food and drink, from sunrise to sundown, and
beware lest desire deprive you of the grace that is appointed in the
Book." (Kitab-i-Aqdas)
The
Baha'i Calendar on Your Desktop
In the left
upper part of the page you can see a two-month calendar with Baha'i days
indicated. If you keep it on your desktop you'll never miss the beginning of a
Baha'i month, the Nineteen Day Feasts or Baha'i Holy days. So we offer you to
download our standalone flash-version of
the program. If you want this program to start together with starting of
your Windows system just include the link to it into your Startup menu folder.
The flash version is very tiny and fast loading, but it need the Flash-Player
program to be installed in your computer. Is your system has not it installed
you can download it
here.
If you don't like to install the Flash-player program, then you can download an
executable version of our calendar, but
it is considerably larger in size. Please enjoy.
